The Mass update part one

It has been a little busy around our house for the last month and a half.  Navy life kept hubby terribly busy through the holidays! So the boys and I jetted off to see grandparents in Texas.  Little K2 got to meet his great grandma  for the first time.  Of course the boys scored fat loot for Christmas.

We made two trips to the ER while we were visiting.  First, K1 woke up screaming with an ear infection on Christmas Eve only thing open was the ER.  He had been a little congested for a few days before, but nothing indicated ear infection.  Poor little guy had a pretty crumby Christmas Day, but there were plenty of people to dote on him. Monday after Christmas K2 was having trouble breathing and was grabbing his ears so we went in to the ER to get him checked out.  Nothing like sick kids while you are on vacation.  After a breathing treatment and prescriptions we were back at the Grandparents battling fussy kids.  K1 and K2 responded quickly to their medications, and were back into trouble in a few days.

Wait for it on week after K2 was at the ER he broke out in the chicken pox.  Kept the little guy covered in calamine, and dunked in oatmeal baths.  After a few days of being covered in calamine K2 was feeling better.  We got up the morning after he finally slept all night again, and K1 had a fever of 104.3 that we could not get to respond to ibuprofen, so we had to call the doctor, and get the ok to add acetaminophen  after only 2 hours.  After 6 hours at 2 hours dosing intervals per the doctors orders the fever was down to a manageable level.  We braced for the onset of little spots.  No such luck K1 ended up with strep throat!! Hooray we were knocking out everything on the list of child hood diseases.

So K1 started eating soft solid foods after a few days, and no one had fevers.  I begin packing to go home since everyone was looking to be on the upside of sick.  Nothing like the gut wrenching call of Jess you better come see this.  Sure enough K1 is breaking out in the chicken pox!! That vaccine did us a lot of good I guess!!

I am hoping we are done with sickness around here for awhile.  I really need to get back on a good work out schedule.   Staying up all night with screaming sick kids is not conducive to maintaining a consistent workout schedule.  I seriously missed working out while they were sick, but usually fell asleep when they did so I could get some rest.  No use running down my body so I get sick too.

More update coming soon.  Screaming kids around here! Something about them wanting food and drink! Grabbing a Shakeology for me on the run.

Potty Training Conundrum!

WARNING: Do not read any further if you do not want to hear about potty training type information.  This post includes poop, pee, and frustration.

My dear 2 year old is going to drive me off the deep end with this venture.  We started with the typical 3 day training plan.  I stared at his crotch for hours, and we ran to the potty all day for 3 days.  That worked for a bit he would run screaming to the potty after awhile, and there was no mess to clean for a few days.  He began to falter so we added M&M rewards for pee, and little toys like a new matchbox car for a poop success.  Our poop success ratio was very low.  I mean this kid must love pooping in his pants.  We finally got to about 2 weeks with an excellent potty record.  I for one am overjoyed.

This triumph was however short lived.  I have tried everything I can think of to get him back to where he was.  Now days he just sits where ever he is  and tells us after he pees that he "Pee bed" or whatever may be the case.  Friday and today have me climbing the walls with frustration.  For the first time in 2 1/2 years he has decided to play in his poop, and put it on the wall.  So as to not encourage the behavior by getting upset I remained calm, and placed him in the shower to contain the poop.  Now add to the factor that my nearly 11 month old is every where and into every thing.  Now I have to catch and contain the little man before I can even begin cleaning the poop.

So now I am asking for advice.  What do I do?  I am terribly tempted to just put him back in diapers, and throw my hands in the air.  This has been over a 2 month battle already.  Am I just rushing the process?  I knew when we started that even when he was doing really well we would still have occasional accidents.  Should I just take a few weeks off, and start all over?  Help I am grasping to the last threads of my sanity here.

I have received some suggestions from mom friends, but they do not really fit our military life style.  My husband is gone at least twice a week for around 40 hours at a time.  I do not have the ability to just hand him the baby and devote multiple days to potty training.  Our first attempt at the 3 day method was over a holiday weekend when my husband had a rare 3 days off.  Now I know there are plenty of families that have similar situations that are not in the military.  So please give me all of your tips!! I will try anything once in this case. Thank you for reading this much of my insanity.

The Funk

I have been in a total funk for 2 days now.  There is no real reason, but grumpy me is  here.  Today I plan to leave the house and hope that makes it better.  Who knows but something has to give. I have recently revamped my entire schedule.  I do not think that is the reason for the funk to have invaded, but I am looking for ideas to snap out of it.

I have been taking my vitamins, getting up early making the hubby breakfast, and doing a short morning devotional each day.  Now as for exercising at home it depends.  If the boys wake up early it usually gets thrown out the window.  Some days they sleep in, but I have been known to just crawl back in bed and read instead of working out.  I started the entirely new schedule so that I could get more me time into the day.   This just leaves me puzzled as to where the funk came from.

So as I do have about 5 blog post in draft at the moment none of the are finished.  I am going to set a new goal to ensure there is a new post available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for sure.  All other post I get out will be a bonus for us all.  I hope all of you are doing well out there in the blogosphere, and I will see you all tomorrow with a new post.
